Roxy Ann

Laurie and I had a great time today exploring the trails on Roxy Ann for a couple of hours. We picked a great day for it.....very few people up there, but lots of wildflowers and butterflies, and even a deer and a jackrabbit.
Later we had an awesome dinner of barbecued sesame, ginger, lemon, pepper turkey tenderloins, with cole slaw and steamed broccoli.

Lower Table Rock Run and an Upper Body Workout

It was a busy day with clients, but I still made time for a Lower Table Rock run and a quick workout of chinup/pushup supersets and SB back extension/SB crunch supersets.
I also went on 4 brisk 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with clients.

Upper Table Rock Run and a Leg Workout

I managed to fit quite a bit of activity into a busy day.  In between training sessions and business chores, I headed out to Upper Table Rock for a fun run and then did a quick workout of BB front squats, DB stationary lunges, single leg calf raises and single leg SB leg curls.  A couple of brisk 1/2 mile walks with clients finished off the day nicely.

Lower Table Rock Run and Yard Work

What a perfect day for a Lower Table Rock run!  Sadly, no snake sightings today :(
After the run, I spent some time on yard and garden work.

Hailey Time and Upper Table Rock

After a couple of non-stop very active hours with Hailey this morning, Laurie and I took a relaxing hike on Upper Table Rock.  Since it was an extremely busy day on the Rock, we hiked out to the north end to the aviation tower where there were very few people.

Modeling Day

I didn't get much movement today, but sometimes holding still for over 4 hours (20 mins at a time) can be a workout in itself.  Some of the poses included some good isometric contractions for those 20 mins.

Good article....but the headline, really? Who knew? Maybe it would even work for younger adults too. And maybe even kids! We might just be on to something here.

Upper Table Rock

Another great day for an Upper Table Rock run!  The rain, wind and chilly temps might keep some people away, but it just makes it more fun for me!

The Punisher and Heavy Bag

The Punisher was calling my name this morning so I headed out for a fun run/climb/hike. It was one of my slower times since I took advantage of several photo ops, but it was still a killer. And, about 2 miles into the 5 mile loop, the temperature plummeted, the wind kicked up and the rain hit with a vengence......for about 15 mins I was absolutely miserable....in that "this is so totally freaking awesome" sort of way.....LOL.
In the evening I spent 30 mins on the heavy bag.

Kettlebells and Medicine Balls

I headed out to my gym for a kettlebell and medicine ball workout this afternoon, but damned if it wasn't in dire need of some cleaning.  Soooo.....after 30 mins of vacuuming, knocking down cob webs, etc., I finally got to the fun stuff.... 1 arm KB swings, snatches and clean & presses, plus some upper body MB plyos.

Upper Table Rock

Another slow morning allowed time for me to do an Upper Table Rock run.....I spent a little time on top heading to the north end of the plateau for some pics.
In the evening, I went on a couple of brisk 1/2 mile walks with a client.

Lower Table Rock and a Back Workout

Due to a cancellation, I had some extra time this morning....so I headed out to Lower Table Rock for a great run.  Afterward I did a quick workout of weighted pullups, 1 arm high cable rows, chinups and hanging scapular depression/retraction.
A few brisk walks with a client and a friend in the evening rounded out the day nicely.

Upper Table Rock

After getting some chores done and spending some active time with Hailey this afternoon, I headed out to Upper Table Rock to experience the eclipse and got in a great hike and run.

Chest Workout and a Little More

I started my day with a couple of 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with a client and followed that with a workout of BB bench presses, supersets of DB flyes and presses, and pushups.  Afterward I helped a friend for a couple of hours move furniture and boxes in her storage unit.

Lower Table Rock Run, Yard Work and Gardening

After my morning sessions I headed out to Lower Table Rock for a great run and after taking care of errands and paperwork, I spent a little over an hour on yard work and gardening.

(That's how I get some of those wildflower pics....and no, this pic isn't rotated.)

Grizzly Peak

Today Laurie and I headed up to Grizzly Peak outside of Ashland for a great hike.  Several of the wildflowers were out in abundance including the Trillium, Klamath Lilly and Hesperochiron.  We even saw a Fairy Slipper Orchid.

Gardening and a Leg Workout

Today I did 2 hours of heavy gardening, hand tilling a 20' x 8' radius semi-circle with a spade and planting corn and cantaloupe.  Afterward I did a quick workout of stationary DB lunges (with 40-60 lb DBs), calf raises and crunches.
I finished the day with a couple of 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with a client.

Lower Table Rock and Some Garden Prep

This morning I got out for a good Lower Table Rock run.  Afterward, since I've failed at talking myself out of starting a garden this year, I started to prep an area for tilling and planting.

Get Fit To Play
Whenever the weather starts getting nicer, people start thinking about getting involved in sports to get fit.  But, this is really backwards thinking and can lead to injury.  You should be getting fit to play sports, not playing sports to get fit.  Once you are fit, sports can help you stay that way, but you need to train your body ahead of time to prepare it for the unique stresses it will be put under.

Upper Table Rock

Today I headed out to Upper Table Rock for a great run......and I didn't crash into the rocks this time.  In the evening, I went on a couple of brisk 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with a client.

Hailey Time and Even MORE Yard Work

After several hours of extremely active time with Hailey this morning and afternoon, I spent about 3 more hours doing some heavy yard work.  I decided to finally take out several large pampas grasses to make room for a possible garden (geesh....now I'm creating more work for myself....LOL).

Modeling

It was kind of a rest day today, but I did do 3 hours of modeling and several of the poses required 20 mins of isometric contractions.....so, I guess I still got a little bit of a workout.

Lower Table Rock and a Ton of Yard Work

This morning I headed out to Lower Table Rock for a great run....she was much nicer to me than Upper Table Rock was yesterday.
After taking care of several business and personal errands, I spent several hours doing some heavy yard work....I think the worst of it is done.

Upper Table Rock and Some Yard Work

Once again, the Upper Table Rock Sirens lured me in. But this time, while running around the edge of the plateau, they hurled me into the rocks.....and let me tell you, that basalt will take quite a bite out of your hand.....OUCH!  No permanent damage, but the heel of my hand is bruised and has a hole in it that REALLY stings.
On the up-side, I got a close-up look at a snake on the way up (he was at least 3 ft long).
In the afternoon I spent a couple of hours doing some heavy yard work.

Lower Table Rock and Habaneros

After a couple of client sessions this morning, I headed out to Lower Table Rock for a great run (and a few pics).  I also got 7 hot chili pepper plants in their pots....and yes, habaneros are on the menu!

Active Recovery Day

Partly because I had a ton of errands and chores to do and partly because my body really needed it, I stayed away from the trails and almost all exercise type activity.  I did go on a couple of brisk 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with a client and a relaxing evening walk with Laurie, but other than that it was a recovery day.....and it felt good.

Heavy Bag and an Upper Table Rock Sunset Hike

I was going to take it easy today with just a moderate intensity 30 minute heavy bag workout and a couple of brisk 1/2 mile walks with a client, but it was just too nice outside this evening to resist the urge to go on an Upper Table Rock hike with a friend to see the sunset.

Hailey Time and Jacksonville Trails

I got my day off to an extremely active start with an hour and a half of Hailey time......and she was on a roll.....we ran, jumped, hopped and ran some more for almost the entire time.
Afterward, I ran and hiked the Jacksonville trails with a friend for a couple of hours.

(We chose the "Optional Hurl" route on this portion of the trail, but declined to exercise the option.)

Lower Table Rock and A Lot More

It was going to be a fairly relaxing day....yeah, right!!  I started with a couple of 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with a client and followed that by mowing the lawn.  Then I helped a friend move a bunch of stuff in a storage unit for a couple of hours and afterward we hiked Lower Table Rock....we skirted around the east edge and got some more great pics.
Now, time to relax with a cold IPA.
