Backwards Lower Table Rock Hike

To celebrate and commemorate my 100th Table Rock run/hike of 2012 I decided to hike Lower Table Rock backwards today.
It was a nice little quad-pumpin' 35 minutes.
Thanks to Todd for hiking backwards with me and to Laurie for joining us, putting up with our craziness, taking pics and giving us encouragement.

Upper Body Workout and Heavy Bag

Energy was up today so I started off with a good upper body workout of BB bench presses, DB shoulder presses, ring dips, decline pushups (feet elevated 40 inches) and SB oblique crunches.....4-5 sets of each.
A bit later I spent 30 minutes on the heavy bag.

Upper Table Rock and Yard Work

After taking a much needed break from working out yesterday, I headed out to Upper Table Rock this morning for a great run.  Afterward, I spent some time on yard and garden work.

Lower Table Rock

After remaining motionless for the better part of 3 hours modelling for one of my favorite group of artists, I needed to get out and move......but, my body was telling me to take a break after so many days of activity.  So  Laurie and I headed out to Lower Table Rock for a relaxed paced hike.....just what we both needed as it turned out.

Upper Table Rock

I managed to get out between rain storms today for a great Upper Table Rock run.  The recent rains actually made the trail just right!
A couple of brisk 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with a client finished off the day perfectly.

Back Workout and a Couple of Walks

I took a break from the trails today and in addition to a couple of brisk walks in the rain with Laurie, I did a back workout of weighted pullups (25 lbs), DB rows (max reps with 105 lbs - 165 lbs working up 10 lbs per set) and bodyweight chinups.

Lower Table Rock Run

Other than a couple of brisk 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with a client, the only exercise I made time for was a Lower Table Rock run this morning.....and with temps in the upper 50s, a light breeze and a steady rain, it just couldn't have been any better!

Upper Table Rock Run

Even though my legs hadn't recovered yet, it was time to get back on the trail.  So I headed out to Upper Table Rock for another good run.

Chest Workout and Heavy Bag

I gave my legs a much needed rest today and in addition to mowing the lawn and a 30 minute heavy bag workout, I did a chest workout of BB bench press and ring pushup supersets, DB flye and DB press supersets, and decline pushups.
It just might be time for a rest day soon.

Mt. Ashland Meadows and Beyond

Since I didn't seem crippled enough from yesterday's 1 mile walking lunge adventure, today Laurie and I went on an 11 mile hike along the PCT in the Mt. Ashland Meadows area and beyond.

Epic Lower Table Rock Lunges

EPIC!!!
That would be the only way to describe today's Table Rock adventure.
I started out by power hiking up Lower Table Rock and when I turned the corner at the top of the last steep section I started doing walking lunges....and I continued doing walking lunges for the next mile until I reached the other end of the plateau. Then I ran back across the plateau and down the hill.
This one's gonna leave a mark!

Hailey Time and Upper Table Rock

After a few hours of extremely active time with Hailey this morning, Laurie and I hiked up and around Upper Table Rock.  It was a great way to end an active weekend!

Yeah, that's right....I even make the squirrels do pushups when I'm on Upper Table Rock (although I did let him get away with modified pushups).

Lots of Walking

I started the day with a couple of 1/2 mile warmup/cooldown walks with a client and followed that with a few hours of walking around the Medford Cruise Show 'N Shine in Hawthorne Park with Laurie.....there were sure some awesome cars there.  After that we met some friends for dinner and an hour long after-dinner walk around Ashland.
I may not have done a "workout", but I sure got a lot of movement worked into my day!

Lower Table Rock Run and a Back Workout

This morning I got out for a quick Lower Table Rock run before the heat really hit......no snakes....not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing....LOL.
Afterward I did a workout of weighted chinups and pullups, single arm low cable rows, bodyweight chinups and pullups, and hanging scapular retraction/depression.
I ended the evening with a couple of brisk 1/2 mile walks with a client.

Chores and a Leg Workout

I took advantage of a slow business day and made some progress on my to-do list.......grocery shopping, banking, edged and mowed the lawn, and washed the car (even did the inside of the windows).
Then I did a leg workout of BB front squats, DB stationary lunges, and supersets of single leg calf raises and single leg SB leg curls.
I finished the day with a huge salad topped with some of last night's BBQ'd pork loin roast.

Upper Table Rock Run

I was going to do some heavy lifting today, but the call of Upper Table Rock was just too strong......no bee stings, no rattlesnake encounters....just a good run.
A couple of brisk walks with a client finished off the day nicely.

Lithia Park and Bandersnatch

Today Laurie and I spent 3+ hours hiking some of the Ashland area trails (Lithia Park, Bandersnatch, etc.)....and you know how they say you should "stop and smell the roses".....well, that didn't work out so well with the buddleia.....that resulted in a bee sting.

Upper Table Rock and Another Rattler

I had just enough time today to sqeeze in an Upper Table Rock run. What a fantastic day for it too.....warm, sunny, a light breeze blowing, almost no haze in the air which made for great views, lizards scampering about, the scent of buddleia filling the air......it just couldn't get any bett..........SNAKE!!!!......Holy Frickin' F-Bomb Batman!!!.....there was a rattle snake right next to me on the side of the trail only a foot away. He made his presence known with the unmistakable sound of his rattle, and as I jumped up in the air, spun around and did a cartoonish little dance, I saw him coil up ready to strike.
Just when you think it can't get any better, something awesome like this happens.

Lower Table Rock and 109 Pushups

This morning I made time for a quick Lower Table Rock run, but not before I did a little pushup challenge by doing 109 non-stop pushups.
I finished the day with a couple of brisk 1/2 mile walks with clients.

The Punisher (100th Trail Run/Hike of 2012) and the ~TOPFIT 400~

This morning I did my 100th trail run/hike of 2012.....and what better place to do it than THE PUNISHER!! I didn't quite beat my old record, but I did set the best time I've done in 2 years.
And, to celebrate #100, I treated myself to a variation of the ~TOPFIT 400~ workout......100 reps each of chinups, ring pushups, squats and SB crunches.

Takin' a Bit of a Break

After 7 days in a row of high intensity and volume activity, I decided to take a bit of a break.  A couple of hours of active play time with Hailey kept me from being totally inactive and after that Laurie and I attended a classical guitar recital at SOU which provided some relaxation to end an awesome week.
